Help A&B Dance Company Rebuild
Donation protected
Recently, a mold infestation with an unknown source has closed down A&B Dance Company, preventing students to dance in their studio. In accordance with COVID guidelines, the owner of A&B, Ashleigh Berney must now teach in several small groups throughout the day in order to give students the dance education they need.
A&B is a small dance studio in Virginia Beach, VA which has always made a massive impact on young girls' lives. Ashleigh Berney has created a positive atmosphere for young girls, giving many a family and positive guidance throughout their teen years. With the help of her fiancé, she physically built the studio, putting in walls and floors to make her dream studio for her team. In December 2020, a black mold infestation was found covering the entirety of the floors, making it unsafe for dancers to be in the studio. During the pandemic, Ashleigh has done her best to continue to provide a positive outlet for the girls struggling with lost memories due to school closure. This included holding classes outdoors in May at the end of her pregnancy to allow the team to be together and continue dancing. For the past 10 years, she has created a safe environment for girls to dance and build confidence that they can take past the studio walls. However, without a floor to dance on, they are unable to all be together.
These funds will be used to purchase new floors and provide a safe place to dance in one again. As a recent alumni, Ashleigh's studio was the most impactful experience of my adolescence and it breaks my heart that those experiences are being taken away from the girls still dancing there. Any contribution helps, thank you so much!
