My name is Aayden Taylor. I am a first generation freshman attending American University in the cohort of the Global Scholars Program where I will earn my Bachelor's degree in three years (2028). A part of matriculating through the program is the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Western Europe, which is my regional focus. My language focus is German, and I will spend three weeks in Madrid, Spain and 3 weeks in Brussels, Belgium (May 7 - June 20) completing coursework and immersing myself in the culture.
As someone who plans to study International Relations and pursue a career in global diplomacy, this experience is more than just travel, it’s a critical step toward my future.
Studying abroad will allow me to learn directly from international communities, explore different political systems and cultures, and gain the kind of global perspective that can’t be taught from a textbook alone. ThiS summer, I’ll take courses focused on global affairs, culture, and international policy. I’m especially excited to learn how different countries approach issues like migration, diplomacy, and economic development, topics that directly connect to my career goals.
Growing up in Maryland and being part of a diverse community has shaped my interest in global issues. I want to build a career that helps bridge international divides, whether through diplomacy, public service, or international security. This opportunity will help me take the next step toward that goal.
While I am committed to working hard and contributing what I can financially, studying abroad comes with significant costs, including program tuition, flights, housing, meals, study materials, and local transportation. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward making this experience possible. Your support will help me access an opportunity that will shape both my education and my future career.
This program isn’t just about traveling, it’s about growth, perspective, and preparing to serve in a global career. I am deeply committed to making the most of this opportunity and representing my community with pride. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much. Thank you for believing in my education and my future.
