Help Aaron & Suellen Rebuild After Flood & Landslide
Donation protected
My name is Tammie (Suellen's sister), and I’m reaching out on behalf of Aaron, Suellen, and their four children.
For the last year, they have been living and working just south of Cardwell, managing a holiday accommodation property to provide for their family. Unfortunately, this year’s wet season has hit them hard—not just with the flooding but with a massive landslide that tore down part of the mountain where they live. The land is now inaccessible and unsafe for them to return. With more rain expected, they’ve been left homeless and without an income.
Adding to their stress, their daughter—who was also living on the property—is expecting a baby in the next 6-8 weeks. She and her partner are now relying on Aaron and Suellen’s support. Right now, the entire family is sheltering in a friend’s shed while they figure out their next steps.
In the early hours of Monday, February 3rd, 2025, Aaron woke around 3 AM to a loud noise, thinking the fast-flowing creek had risen. He got up to check but didn’t see anything unusual and went back to sleep. By morning, Suellen noticed a strong earthy smell, and when they stepped outside, they were met with devastation—the entire middle section of the rainforest mountain had collapsed, bringing a 3m wall of rocks, trees, mud & debris right to their doorstep.
Since then, they’ve been in a blur, trying to salvage what they can and understand what the future holds. Sadly, they’ve only been given one week before they have to start paying rent again—despite having no way to earn an income. They are now desperately searching for both work and a home to keep their family together.
How You Can Help
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in helping them get back on their feet.
Funds raised will go toward:
- Temporary housing
- Medical support & supplies for the upcoming birth of their grandchild
- Truck hire & fuel to move their belongings
- Storage Hire
- Daily living expenses while they start over
Aaron and Suellen are hardworking, self-sufficient people who have always provided for their family. They are determined to rebuild, but they need support to get through this unexpected disaster. Your generosity will not only help them survive this difficult time but also give them the chance to regain stability and move forward.
Thank you for any support you can offer—whether it’s donating, sharing their story, or sending encouragement. Every bit helps.
