Help Aaron Beucus Beat Cancer

Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to support this beautiful family.

As many of you already know, Aaron Beucus underwent surgery on both Monday, March 7, 2022 and Wednesday, March 9, 2022 to remove a large tumor on his spine that damaged multiple lumbar vertebrae and compressed nerves in his spinal cord, causing extreme pain in his lower back and legs that he has been enduring for five months. During the surgery, Aaron had his L3 vertebrae in his lumbar spine removed and  replaced with a bone graft.  His L1-L5 vertebrae was then fused with a large amount of metal hardware.

The Beucus Family’s worst fears were confirmed when a biopsy performed on the tumor determined it to be malignant, and Aaron has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Aaron will have to recover from surgery for a month, at which time he will begin undergoing chemotherapy to make sure the cancer is completely eliminated.

This has already been a long and difficult process for Aaron and Katie. After two urgent care visits, multiple sessions with chiropractors and physical therapists, and pleading with Aaron’s primary care physician for an MRI, they made the decision to go out of their insurance network to see another doctor. This doctor finally listened to Aaron and ordered the MRI that led to the discovery of the tumor, and therefore the surgery and all further treatments could be outside of their insurance network as well.

A little about Aaron Beucus…

Aaron has spent his entire professional career as a Wildland Firefighter, working for both Cal Fire and the U.S. Forest Service. His profession has combined two things he is passionate about, the outdoors and helping others. As a Wildland Firefighter Aaron not only fights fires and protects our communities here in San Diego, but he also fights fires around the United States. These fire assignments can take him from home for weeks at a time. And no one is more excited for Aaron to get home from a fire than his kids, and not just because he is known to bring home tasty snacks and souvenirs from the fires, but because he is an exceptional father.

He is the type of father that comes home from a long day at work and plays baseball with his son, Evan (7), in the yard until it gets dark. He is the type of father that runs around the yard with his daughter, Haddie (4), while they play Fireman Sam, racing to imaginary fires while using their walkie talkies to report their progress to each other. He is the kids’ favorite popcorn chef and pre-dinner dance party DJ.

Aaron is also a wonderful husband. Before Katie started working from home due to the pandemic, on his days off he was thoughtful enough to take detailed notes of the kids’ days for her while she was out or at work. This may seem like something small, but it is everything to a mom who wishes she could have a peak into her children’s lives while she is away, especially when they are not feeling well. When their daughter Haddie was very sick, Aaron took meticulous notes for Katie while he spent hours in the hospital with her, even while being exhausted and worried himself.

Aaron is a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, and the kind of friend who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. The hardship of major surgery, compounded by a cancer diagnosis is something no family ever expects to navigate in life, especially at such a young age. Let’s all come together to support Aaron, Katie, Evan, and Haddie during their time of need. Aaron’s recovery from surgery and cancer treatment will be a costly and lengthy process. But with his contagious optimism and positive attitude, the love and support of family and friends, and the unending love and advocacy of his wife, we know Aaron will fight for every inch of recovery, and ultimately beat this cancer.

We ask that in addition to your prayers for a complete recovery, you may find it in your hearts to donate and help ease the financial burden cancer causes during this first year of treatment. Let’s all come together to give Aaron and his family the support they need so that they’re not fighting this battle alone. Thank you.
