Help Aaron and his Family

Donation protected
17 Year old Aaron Pounds and his family need some help.

Monday, May 1st changed everything in Aaron's life. He was on his way to work on his motorcycle and someone ran a stop sign right in front of him. He suffered multiple injuries and was Bayflighted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was thankfully wearing his helmet so there were no head injuries, but as each update came in I wondered if there was anything else in his poor body that wasn't injured. He had internal bleeding and his spleen needed to be removed. Both of his legs were broken and his pelvis was shattered. We learned this injury was from the gas tank coming back on him when he hit the car. He had a shattered kneecap, one lung had collapsed, and both lungs were severely bruised. His left arm had a deep, deep laceration which at first the doctors warned of possible amputation. The amazing ER doctors and surgeons were able to get Aaron stable after a long 5-hour surgery. This was all before noon on the day that changed the Pound's family's life.

Tuesday, May 2nd Aaron went in for his second surgery to do repairs to his right leg and pelvis in hopes that he will be able to walk. This was another 4+ hour surgery and the doctors reported that things were going well.

Wednesday, May 3rd brought a day of X-rays, scans, and pain. His parents, Chris and Sharon have had to come to the realization that they cannot take away the pain that their "baby" is going through.

Aaron is currently in the hospital and has at least one more major reconstruction surgery scheduled to repair his left leg and the left side of his body. He will need more surgeries later for his torn tendons and ligaments in both knees and ankles. He is expected to make a full recovery, but these are lifelong injuries and he will need significant medical care and rehabilitation. The expectation of the doctors as of today is he will not be able to walk for at least 4 months.

The cost of his medical care is going to be extremely high, and the loss of work for Chris and Sharon now, and during re-hab for Aaron, well, it will be a struggle to even make a dent in the debt. If you personally know this family, you know they would never ask for anything and they pride themselves on taking care of their own. Well, this is too much for one family to endure alone. So as Christopher's aunt, I am asking for your help. It filled my heart when I look at all the love the family received from just the first Facebook post informing people of the accident.

I know things are tough but every little bit helps. If you can't help financially, please know that Chris and Sharon have read all your messages and often tear up with emotion. So please keep the messages, good thoughts, and prayers coming, it means a lot to them to know they are not battling this alone. It truly takes a village.

Please forward this to all who may be able to help.
