Hello, my name is Aaliyah Cruz and I am from Nashville,TN. I am 21, I recently moved to Oak grove, KY due to my wife being in the U.S Army. On March 4th, our apartment complex suffered flooding and damage due to the recent tornadoes. Our entire home and belongings including furniture, appliances, electronics , all of my cat’s necessities, food, and my wife’s military gear and uniforms have been destroyed. I had to evacuate with my cat as water was rising rapidly and have been going from places to stay back to back out of pocket since then. My wife is currently away due to work so I am currently alone which is unfortunate circumstances. We recently had been married and just signed the lease not long before. The realty management refuses to do anything until the water recedes and will not hold any accountability. They have threatened to cancel our lease due to the home not being habitable. The walls and carpet will have to be completely replaced, including the roof with the ceiling leaking from the storms. They have stated they are not helping with temporary housing or any reimbursements now or for the future. We have reached out to personal insurance and it has been a long process because they cannot visit the apartment due to it being hazardous. Due to us having to pay out of pocket for everything so far,I am in a tough financial spot and I am afraid I will not be able to replace anything or have the money for my cat and I to live. This is upsetting as my wife and I had just built our life together and my cat’s home that she loved so much is destroyed. I currently will have to be living in numerous different temporary weekly situations as I am not able to find a place to stay safely for longer than a week. We are having to restart our lives over and I would appreciate any help I can get. I hate to do this, but I am unfortunately left with no other options. Thank you so much for reading this and I appreciate any help in advance, even if that means sharing. Any resources will help!!!
