My name is Aaliya, and I’m a junior in high school who is hopelessly devoted to sustainability and environmental outreach. I recently got offered a 60% scholarship for my dream program under CIEE to study Engineering and Sustainability in Copenhagen, Denmark. https://www.ciee.org/go-abroad/high-school-study-abroad/summer/programs/denmark/copenhagen/engineering-sustainability#destination-anchor
Why this program:
It’s difficult to preach environmentalism when many of us have lost hope in our future. The passion and dedication of climate leaders are what keep me returning to early-morning clean-ups and give me hope even when statistics feel overwhelming. This commitment is necessary to make environmentalism feel doable and impactful for everyone. This is why I want to pursue a career in green chemical engineering, because at the end of the day, if our solutions aren’t accessible, we can’t expect tangible results.
What will I gain:
I’m very excited for the opportunity to meet like-minded environmentalists in a country well ahead of its competitors in renewable energy and widespread public green solutions. I hope to bring back these same principles to America in my ambitious dream of making sustainability accessible.
Why I need your help:
With my mom covering the flight, I still have 3,000 to raise. The program will take place throughout July, and given my school’s "no student job during studies" policy, I will have the month of June to work so I can cover a portion of this amount. I would be incredibly grateful for any donation to bring me closer to my goal.
Thank you!
Note: My mom is the beneficiary responsible for any funds and account management.
