Help AA recover!

Hey all,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to check this out! Beyond donations, your time and care is so so appreciated.

For those who may not know me, I'm A Andrews, I'm a queer and disabled author and graphic artist based in Minneapolis, MN. While I know it's been a year for all of us, I'm currently pretty down on my luck in a bad way. On December 22, my car was involved in an accident with a driver running a red light. Thankfully and most importantly no one was injured, but due to the determined value of the vehicle, the overall damage, and airbags deploying, it was deemed a total loss. My insurance plan did not cover beyond liability nor does the other driver's and after a lot of back and forth, it's been determined I will be left dealing with the wreckage of my vehicle in full on my own.

To add injury to an already difficult time, the insurance company directed a tow to take it to an impound lot where the vehicle was lost for a number of days. When we finally tracked it down, it had accumulated fees that are nearing $1500 dollars just to have my vehicle released which insurance is now dodging covering for the mistake. It is currently in that lot and I'm working to get the funds together to sort out its release and salvage the car, but am admittedly not in a financial situation to take this kind of emergency on.

I know that it's going to take more than I'm capable of alone to sort this out and secure a functioning vehicle, which if I swallow my pride and admit, I desperately need to accommodate my health and mobility issues. This car has quite literally been my lifeline, and while I'm reeling from the loss, I'm ultimately just really stuck in trying to figure out how to navigate and recover from an unexpected hardship.

Anything put forward into this GoFund Me will go directly toward the fees accumulated in having my car sorted, and acquiring a reliable replacement. All help to getting back on my feet is so so so appreciated and I'll forever be working to pay it forward. I'll happily post updates on the status of this fundraiser as it moves along.
