Help a Zinester Replace her Stolen Inventory
Donation protected
Sometime last night someone broke into my car, which was parked in my apartment's garage, and stole the suitcase where I stored all my zines, as well as my car registration and a second tiny suitcase where I stored my business cards and stickers. Luckily my cart, shelves, and prints were rummaged through but not stolen. It looks like they just grabbed any closed boxes and walked off with them. Usually I store my inventory and display stuff in my car because my garage has a gate and I'm like... why would you steal a bunch of business cards and zines?? Unfortunately though that's exactly what happened.
For the past couple years I have been traveling to events across SoCal selling my prints and zines. I depend on sales from zine fests to pay my bills and I can't afford the cost of reprinting my entire inventory. I've spent years building up my business and it's pretty heartbreaking to have it just disappear like this. Especially because I know there's no value in this stuff to whoever stole it. Even the suitcase I used for storage is an upsetting loss- I just hand painted it and covered it in stickers I've been collecting for years from friends and artists.
I reported the break in and walked my neighborhood to see if they discarded the suitcase but I'm really not optimistic about getting any of this back. If you're able to donate a dollar or two to help me rebuild my inventory I would really appreciate it.
