Help a Young Victim Heal After a Brutal School Bus Attack

I am the immigration attorney representing the victim of a horrific and deeply disturbing attack that occurred on a school bus in Broward County, Florida. The victim, a kind and quiet young boy originally from Guatemala, was simply sitting on the bus playing cards when he was targeted and brutally assaulted.

In the video of the attack—now circulating widely and deeply upsetting to all who’ve seen it—a boy in a red shirt taps the victim on the shoulder. When the victim looks up, he is struck full force in the face with a closed fist. He immediately begins to bleed. Moments later, a second classmate in a grey shirt begins to pummel him repeatedly as others on the bus cheer, laugh, and record the assault.

The victim was left defenseless, crouching over, trying desperately to protect himself. He speaks very little English and does not understand why he was attacked. He came to the United States in December 2024 in search of safety and a better life. Now, that sense of safety has been violently taken from him.

The assault has left the boy with significant facial injuries and the need for corrective surgery to realign his nose. The emotional trauma is also severe. His mother, a single parent of very humble means, is now facing medical bills that they simply cannot afford.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help cover the cost of his current and future medical treatment and to provide a small measure of relief to a family already under great strain. No child deserves to experience this. No mother should have to carry this burden alone.
