Hello friends, family, and kind strangers,
I come to you today with a mother’s plea, I’m asking for your support for my son, Wesley, a brave 25-year-old who has spent most of his life fighting battles no one should ever face. From birth, Wesley has lived with severe sickle cell disease. Hospital stays, pain crises, and medical emergencies have stolen from him the simple joys of youth, college, career, even simple moments of freedom.
He has survived a heart attack, a stroke, seizures, kidney and brain damage, and even two weeks on life support when his body stopped responding to treatment. Doctors prepared us for the worst. But by God’s grace, he pulled through. Still the cost has been heavy anxiety, depression, loneliness. Wesley has become quiet, withdrawn, and often isolates himself. He couldn’t complete college, and cannot work. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because his body won’t allow it. As if his own struggles weren’t enough, this past year he also suffered heartbreaking losses…his grandfather in December, and just five months later, his grandmother in June, the two people who gave him the most strength.
Now, for the first time, there is real hope. Wesley is being approved for a bone marrow transplant that could change his life. But recovery will be long, costly, and overwhelming.
This fundraiser will help cover recovery care, mental health support, day-to-day needs, and small joys he has been robbed of for far too long. He deserves not just to survive, but to truly live, smile, laugh, and dream again.
Please consider donating or sharing this campaign. Together, we can remind him that he is not alone, that hope is real, and that brighter days are ahead.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
