Ajovang - The Brand

 

The brand is a manifestation of a dream. The fashion industry is tough to break into even before the pandemic and especially after. Knowing this, i decided to create a space for me and honestly it was all rather subconscious. All i knew, was that what i was creating really gave me joy. It made me realize that this is what i'm meant to do. Enter AJOVANG! Ease, comfort, and romance is embedded in every piece. Utilitarian details mixed with voluminous, playful silhouettes. I aiming for upliftment of everyone while hopefully, creating something that people can relate to and dream about.

 

• Environment/Sustainability - Fabric is mostly deadstock material besides linings and trims. The impact the fashion industry makes on the environment is extremely important and i'm constantly looking for ways to limit my brand contributions. Most of the garments are created in ways to limit waste without sacrificing the overall design.

 

Who am I? - Artist/Designer

 

Hi my name is Adreain Guillory and i'm a young African American Demi-Couture Designer from Michigan now based out of Chicago. I'm a recent graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I draws my inspiration from my childhood. Fairy tale films, japanese anime, and the all american middle class worker being my main sources. Rooted in my practice is my love of blue collar and high elegance with a hint of ease. I love exploring volume and shape in the hopes it’ll help fill the world with more whimsy and wonder. I strives to share the black experience through my fantasy lense in the hopes it will normalize the inclusion of poc within the fashion industry. Showing younger poc that our dreams can become our reality too.

 

 

Goal -

 

The goal is to grow my team and expand my production of high demand products. Many of the high demanded designs are done at the couture level which makes it impossible to make for the masses given that I am only a team of 1. This fundraiser will help alleviate some of the pressure by allowing me to try outsourcing for production. More importantly, it’ll  give my AJOVANG customers the pieces they dream of.  Please help me make this a reality!
