Help a Young Farrier after Fire Destroyed Business

Donation protected
In short what happened...

On the night of March 29th, a fire in Wantage, New Jersey, took out the building that Daniel Denman had his farrier rig, truck and trailer parked next to. The fire destroyed what he has worked hard to gather as he started out in business. As a horseshoer by trade, he had recently followed the work to Florida, where so many Northeast clients house their horses for the winter. He had no insurance on his trailer or tools, as they were simply going to sit until his return. We, his family and friends, are raising this money in hopes to help him replace what was lost, help him not to worry in this time, allow him a safety net as he makes sense of the loss and show that this moment can actually mean a brighter future ahead.

Who is Daniel Denman?

Daniel is the type of guy who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger in need. He is known for his kindness, his loyalty and his zest for life. Friends find a solid foundation; customers find a one-of-a-kind care. He has a life-long passion for horses and has made it his career in the past decade. Daniel began barrel racing in grade school and took up draft horse driving and caring for miniature horses as a teenager, as part of his family's business. He attended Kentucky Horseshoeing School and has learned by shadowing several fine farriers. He has worked throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has demonstrated this skill and craft at events to hundreds of people-  passing along his passion.

Daniel is the type of person who doesn't wish to seek a handout. He comes from a long-line of self starters and hard workers. His hesitation when approached about starting this funding drive is all the more reason we believe he is deserving of this misfortune turning around to a blessing. As one of his brothers put it, "This is what GoFundMe was made for,"  trying to convince Daniel he was allowed such charity in life.

What was lost:

Truck- Blue Book Value: around $14,000. Daniel still had a balance to pay off. Though the truck was insured, we all know the uncertainty of how that may play out.

Horseshoeing Trailer fitted with Forge, Drill Presses, Anvils, Pad Racks, Horseshoes Racks, Tool Supply Drawers- Estimated replacement cost for a used set-up:  $15,000.

Specialized Tools of his Trade- Grinder, Hammers, Knives, Rasps, Tongs, etc. Estimated: around $2,000.

When talking to Daniel, one of his biggest upsets was losing the hat he wore as best man in his brother's wedding and that his anvil would only be a show piece and "never have the same bounce." It's a true testament to where his priorities lie.

Who is raising the funds:
The Denman cousins are a tight knit group for this day and age. We grew up working together for Pleasant Acres Farm Campground, started by our grandparents. The Denman motto is "Prudentia et constantia" or "By prudence and constancy". We were raised with four simple constructs: faith, family, education and fun. His long list of friends and family hope that this can go viral and horse lovers, kindhearted and well-meaning people from around the world might help us to help him.

What will it be used for:
We seek to replace what was lost and show Daniel how much he means to everyone. Funds may be used for transportation so he can get back from Florida when needed, as he sorts out these affairs. We appreciate our first responders and all who responded to the fire call that night. 2% of all funds will go to the Colesville Sussex-Wantage Fire Department, which Daniel's great-grandfather helped establish. If the goal is reached, 15% of the excess will be donated. Any extra money may be used by Daniel as he sees fit in his future endeavors.
