Help A Young Butch Lesbian Move to a Safer Country

It’s not safe to be a lesbian in a country where homosexuality is illegal, punishable by prison or the death penalty. You can help a 21-year-old butch lesbian friend of ours move to safety by immigrating to live with her girlfriend in a more accepting country. We can’t share her name or any personal details because it would put her in danger from her religious family and her country’s government. However, we know her and vouch for her. The economy in her country is bad and it is hard to find work. And our friend does not have the money to move to another country. She needs funds for two phases of her move: 1) a visit to a safer country to look for housing, plan for her immigration, and 2) funds for living expenses while she gets established in the new country and applies for a permanent visa. A few years ago a 19 yo butch lesbian reached out to me in my personal messages (DM's) after seeing me on my social media that focuses on lesbian positivity. She talked about her hopes of someday living out and happy, finding a girlfriend and dressing in a way that makes her feel comfortable and confident. I introduced her to some lesbian friends her age and older on line and we learned about how hard it is for her to thrive in an environment that makes it deadly for her to let any hint about her sexuality be known. She is expected, under threat of punishment, to wear clothing that is uncomfortable and demeaning for her. Through these last few years we have grown to admire her and her daily courage. Her mental health and self worth is under constant attack by her home country. Now the opportunity she has waited for has arrived.
