Help a WSHS Student in Need to Study Abroad
Maria is a student at West Seattle High School with dreams to study abroad. She was accepted into the Council of International Educational Exchange’s summer program in Italy to study Italian for a month this summer and given a generous scholarship which covers 90% of the program fees. The family is responsible for the other 10% and travel expenses such as the passport and plane ticket.
Maria’s family has a complicated situation. Her mom is a single mom who is non-English speaking and they live in a confidential shelter for their safety. The school was able to help with the passport expense but isn’t able to offer any more help. Maria qualifies for homeless services and they struggle with basic living expenses in an expensive city and are struggling to come up with funds to cover travel expenses.
Any amount that you can share would help Maria to accomplish this dream. She is sweet and hard-working and her mother is fiercely supportive but they are in danger of having to cancel her trip. Maria has already been through so much in life, and this is the kind of experience that can be life-changing. Please help Maria to be able to have this transformative experience with your contribution.
