I know what it is like to rebuild a life from the ground up.
Years ago, I found myself living in survival mode after experiencing domestic violence and deep relational trauma. From the outside, life looked normal. Inside, I was carrying fear, shame, confusion, and a nervous system that never felt safe.
Like many women leaving dysfunctional or abusive relationships, I didn’t just need to “move on.”
I needed to rebuild.
Rebuild my mind.
Rebuild my confidence.
Rebuild my identity.
Rebuild my life.
There were moments I felt completely alone.
Moments I questioned my worth.
Moments I didn’t know who I was anymore.
But healing is possible.
Through deep inner work, professional training, faith, and the support of safe people, I slowly rebuilt myself — piece by piece. What began as survival became strength. What began as pain became purpose.
Today, I am a counsellor, psychotherapist, social work student, author of The Rebuilt Woman, and founder of a growing global movement helping women rebuild after trauma and domestic violence.
But here is what I see every day in my work:
So many women are ready to heal…
and simply cannot afford the support.
They are leaving unsafe environments, starting again financially, caring for children, rebuilding confidence — and therapy or structured recovery programs often feel out of reach.
No woman should have to rebuild alone simply because she cannot afford help.
This is why I created The Rebuilt Woman Sponsorship Fund.
This fund will sponsor women into structured healing and rebuilding programs, giving them access to safe support, community, and tools to rebuild their lives with dignity and strength.
Because when a woman heals, everything changes.
She becomes a safer mother.
A stronger leader.
A cycle breaker.
A woman who no longer lives in survival.
I rebuilt my life.
Now I am committed to helping other women rebuild theirs.
Thank you for standing with us. Dawn
