Hi, my name is Chris Johnson, and I’m a wildland firefighter in British Columbia. I travel from Alberta to BC in the summers to fight wildfires and lead new firefighters. This week, my van was broken into, and all of my personal belongings, but more importantly, my work gear — including essential firefighting equipment and personal protective gear — was stolen.
I’ve spent the past 2 years building up this gear to do my job on the fire line safely. From boots and helmets to specialized tools and clothing, this equipment is not just expensive — it’s what keeps me safe while I protect our forests and communities.
Unfortunately, replacing everything out-of-pocket isn’t something I can afford right now. Wildfire season is my main source of income for the year, and without my gear, I can’t take contracts or get back on the fireline. Every day I’m sidelined is a missed paycheck — and an opportunity lost to do the work I’ve trained for.
I’m asking for your help to get back on my feet and back in the field.
What Was Stolen:
Viberg Work Boots
Hardhat
Flame Proof clothing
Wool clothing
Tent/Sleeping Essentials
Equipment
Tools
Safety Equipment
Rain Gear
Personal Hygiene Belongings
Any amount you can give — or even just sharing this page — will help me replace what I lost and return to the fireline as soon as possible. I’m incredibly grateful for your support.
Thank you,
Chris Johnson
