On January 22nd, 2023, Rene and his family’s life changed forever. Rene received news that he had multiple tumors throughout his body. Following this information, Rene underwent emergency cranial surgery to remove the golf ball-sized tumor located in his brain. The biopsy revealed that the cancer cells originated from the grapefruit size mass he has located on his kidney. Rene was then diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer (Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma; MRCC). A diagnosis that no one is ever ready for.

However, Rene never asked how long he had but instead asked, “how do we beat this?” A true warrior’s mentality. Starting February 13th, 2023, Rene will undergo radiation to ensure that the cancer cells are out of his brain and immunotherapy/chemotherapy to attack the remaining cancer cells throughout his body. This will be a battle unlike any other, but Rene is determined to fight this war to the bitter end.

Rene has given his life to support his family, friends, and colleagues. Moreover, he has positively impacted countless lives and has been a pillar for many communities as he completed numerous projects worldwide. It is now our turn to help this warrior and his family in the fight of their lives.
