MY BIRTHDAY WISH THIS YEAR
Every year for my birthday, I try to raise funds for something close to my heart. Last year, it was for a homeless veteran who had fallen on hard times. Sadly, just two months later, he passed away.
This year, I met a woman named Rhonda through one of my favorite animal rescues. She needed help paying for cancer treatment for her beloved dog. When we spoke, she was in tears. She had just lost her husband of 35 years to cancer last year and couldn’t bear the thought of losing their dog too.
Her husband was an incredible man — a 9 year Navy veteran who later served 11 years flying in the Air Force, completing 142 combat missions across Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. After his military service, he spent 7 years in federal law enforcement. He lived an extraordinary life and passed away at 93 years old in March 2024. Next month, he will finally receive the burial he deserves at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
Sadly, Rhonda’s dog passed away a month after receiving treatment, leaving her not only heartbroken but also struggling financially due to the vet bills. She now doesn’t know how she’ll be able to afford the trip to Virginia to say her final goodbye to her husband.
I’ve already helped cover a few nights in Arlington so she’ll have a place to stay, but I’d love to do more for her — and I’m asking for your help.
If you can, please consider donating any amount to help Rhonda attend her husband’s funeral without the stress of financial worry. She lives on his retirement income, and after her monthly bills, there’s very little left.
Your kindness will help give her peace and the chance to honor the man she loved so deeply. ❤️
Thank you all so much — and please share this story if you can.
