I am a retired U.S. Air Force veteran who has always believed in service and helping others. Six months ago, my life changed dramatically when I was diagnosed with lung cancer. The treatment required a right lung lobectomy, removing a third of my right lung, and forced me to miss significant time away from work. This created a financial hardship for my family, as we struggled to keep up with everyday expenses while focusing on my recovery.
Just last week, I received the heartbreaking news of my sister's passing. Now, I am facing another challenge -- an inoperable tumor at the left base of my skull. The next steps will require targeted radiation and chemotherapy, which means more time away from work and my wife stepping in as my caregiver and transportation provider. While I am grateful to have healthcare insurance, our savings are limited and do not cover our mortgage, utility costs, or groceries for the long term during my recovery.
We are reaching out for help because we believe in the power of community and compassion. Regardless of someone's race, color, or community standing, we sincerely believe in helping those in true need.
"...by means of an equalizing, your surplus at the present time might offset their need, so that their surplus might also offset your deficiency" -- 2 Corinthians 8:14.
Any support you can offer will help us cover essential expenses not included in our insurance, allowing us to focus on healing and supporting each other through this difficult time.
