My good friend Jason Hetland is a U.S. Army veteran where he performed as a combat medic, who never stopped serving after his time in uniform ended.
Jason has spent years giving back to fellow veterans by participating in and working events that support and promote the Wounded Warrior Project. He does this quietly, consistently, and without expecting anything in return. Helping other veterans isn’t something he does for recognition—it’s simply who he is.
Anyone who knows Jason will tell you the same thing:
He’s the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help a stranger.
Now, Jason is facing a situation he can’t handle on his own.
His 2017 Ford F-150 XLT with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine has suffered a major engine failure. After speaking with both the dealership and his bank, it’s clear there are no financing options available to help cover the repair.
The dealership has quoted in excess of $12,000 to replace the engine alone. This estimate does not include the turbochargers, which may also need replacement due to oil delivery issues commonly associated with this type of engine failure. While we’re hopeful the turbos are not damaged, even the best-case scenario puts the cost far beyond what Jason can realistically afford.
Jason relies on this truck for work, daily life, and traveling to veteran-support events. Losing it has been a major setback—and Jason is not the type of person to ask for help. That’s why I’m asking on his behalf.
This fundraiser is intended to help cover:
Engine replacement costs (dealer-quoted over $12,000)
Labor, fluids, and related mechanical expenses
Additional repairs if required to safely complete the job
Every donation—no matter the amount—goes directly toward helping a veteran who has spent years helping others. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is incredibly helpful and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for standing behind Jason and supporting a veteran who truly never stopped serving.
With sincere gratitude,
Jorge
