Hi we are a group of neighbors desperately trying to save this pup’s life. Shadow is a beautiful soul. He’s everyone’s friend BUT most importantly he’s the service dog to a disabled veteran. He was hit by a car after escaping from a caretaker who was walking him for his owner. Shadow is everything to Ron. Please help us. We were only notified an hour ago about the accident that occurred last night. Currently Shadow needs emergency surgery in hopes of saving his back leg. His owner Ron is the kindest person. He checks in on all the neighbors when he’s out with Shadow. These two are the brightest lights you could ever imagine meeting. Please help. Please share. Please save Shadow ❤️

****Update 11/28****
Shadow required an emergency blood transfusion. His back right leg had to be amputated in order to save his life. He has a long recovery ahead and we working to make sure all his needs will be covered. This is a 85 lb pup who now needs to relearn to walk without his back right leg. Shadow just turned 4 years old on Halloween. He’s otherwise healthy so we have faith he will be running with his pack again soon!  Shadow is the sweetest pup you could ever meet. We were able to find a grant that is helping to cover a good portion of the bill. The grant went into affect yesterday afternoon but does not cover anything prior to then so we are trying to cover $4000 that still needs to be covered as well as having funds for follow up care. Ron will need volunteers to help with Shadow’s recovery. Most of you know Ron cannot lift or move easily due to his back. The current needs are funds to pay the outstanding balance, buy Shadow a good orthopedic dog mattress (he usually sleeps with Ron but won’t be able to jump up or off the bed for some time) , training pads to use on the balcony for now, 4 big bath towels to use to help Shadow with standing (so that we always have a clean one on hand during the healing)  a raised feeding and water station for Shadow and meals for Ron during the first few weeks. Ron needs help to help Shadow but we also need to help Ron stay healthy. Thank you all for helping, sharing, checking in ❤️We appreciate all of you so much!
