Early one morning at 4:00 a.m., my friend woke up to the unimaginable—his house was on fire. With only moments to spare, he was able to rescue his two beloved cats and escape with nothing but the clothes on his back. The fire took everything else, leaving him without a home or any of his belongings.

He has been a dedicated member of our community for 45 years and served our country as a veteran of the Persian Gulf and Somalia. Now, with no other family around to lean on, he is facing the overwhelming challenge of starting over from scratch.
