I am a disabled Army veteran and a mother of 4. I was behind an ICE vehicle when I was struck from behind and on the side by two other ICE vehicles. I was very vocal the entire time about identifying myself and letting them know I was disabled, a veteran, a mother, and a citizen of this country that has lived in this area my entire life. They smashed my window, put me forcefully on the ground, and handcuffed me. I was taken by ambulance to Delnor ER where I was "checked over" and released back into their custody. They then brought me to a makeshift stainless steel holding cell in an empty office building in Lombard (747 East 22nd Street) where I was told to contact someone for a ride and released without any charges or paperwork. I was in holding with 3 men from a Chicago cemetery who also didn't know why they were detained and were released without charges. Through this entire ordeal, I was never read my rights, never told why I was being detained, and was never given any information on any of the people who detained me, despite asking over and over again for their identification. I have video of the incident and pictures of the damages and my injuries. I have since received an incorrectly detailed motorist report from Kane County Sheriff's Dept.
I need help navigating this issue. I need help funding the cost of repairs and replenishing my resources. I need help feeling safe.
