Folks, this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do; admit that I seriously need some help.
After being out of work for over 2 years, I was just a couple of days away from starting a new job when my mom got sick. Unfortunately, her initial condition started other problems. She ended up with demetia and Alzheimer's, both of which are now classified as "end-stage". Begging me not to let her die in "that smelly place", we brought her home. I have been caring for her, 18+ hours a day for the past 14 months. All requests for state or Federal aid or assistance have been denied.
While this was going on, we enrolled in a state program to help us "save our home", as we went through a rough financial stage. We just found out a few days ago that the state had not been taking care of this for the past 8 months. So, "magically" we became 8-months past due virtually overnight.
Running in the "background" has been my disability claim with the VA. This has been ongoing for about 18 years now. After several denials, my case was taken to Federal court, almost 2 years ago, where the VA admitted that my claim had been improperly denied, and that they owed me a lot of "back pay". This past week, I received the latest from them; they denied my claim yet again, for the exact same reason they had initially (for the reasons they had admitted were wrong).
Any money we can raise will be used solely for saving our home, so that my Mom will not have to go through a complete disruption prior to her passing. Once my VA claim goes through, inspite of the typical government "foot-dragging", we pledge to "pay this forward" as soon as we can.
