Help a veteran from going homeless

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I was reading a NextDoor thread which diverted wildly from its original subject (as they often do) and Jeffrey Arnold, whom I do not know, posted about his imminent eviction from his rent-controlled apartment.

Jeffrey is a Navy veteran who, 2.5 years onto a 6 year tour was honorably discharged in the early 1990s because he was diagnosed with H.I.V.

Jeffrey completed a Bachelor's Degree and (almost) a Master's Degree after his time in the service. Due to a series of unfortunate events, after 20 years of paying his rent on time, he was unable to do so recently. As his rent is much lower than the exorbitant current rents, his landlord is eager to boot him and collect higher rates with a new tenant. Jeffrey is out of options and if he cannot get some money fast, he will have no choice but to live on the streets of L.A.

Everyone I know in Los Angeles (and elsewhere) either empathizes with, or complains about the homeless crises in LA. Here's an opportunity to help someone not add to that crisis. Can we as a community show some support for a veteran in desperate need?

I am hoping to raise $2,500, which will cover the immediate crisis, but if we can raise more, it would go a long way to helping Jeffrey find a long-term solution to make a sustainable life for himself.

Come on people, let's make this happen!

Sincerely,

Alex Pitt
