Help a Veteran Fix His Car and Keep His Job

I’m starting this GoFundMe to help my daughter Amanda’s dad, an Army veteran who is doing everything he can to rebuild his life after a series of setbacks.

Like many veterans, the transition to civilian life was not easy. He went through difficult years and struggled after leaving the military. What matters is that he took responsibility for his mental health, sought help, and is now in a much healthier and more stable place.

Over the past year, he has been working hard to stay independent and employed. For a long time, he didn’t have a vehicle and rode his bicycle to and from work. While riding home one night, he was hit by a car and broke his arm, forcing him to stop working while he recovered.

After healing, he saved enough money to buy a small used car for $400 so he could get to work more safely and avoid riding at night again. By the time he was able to return, his job was no longer available.

He didn’t give up. He continued applying and recently secured a new job that he is starting now. This position requires travel to different locations, making reliable transportation essential.

Unfortunately, just days before starting work, his car broke down. Since then, he has been trying to repair it himself day and night with the limited money he has. In the meantime, he is commuting by bus and bicycle — nearly three hours each way — so he can still show up to work and not lose this opportunity.

We have helped as much as we can as a family, but the cost of repairs is more than he can manage on his own right now. The funds raised will go toward necessary car repairs and basic transportation costs so he can continue working and regain stability.

He is someone who has often helped others even when he had very little himself. Asking for help does not come easily, but right now it could make the difference between moving forward or falling behind again.

Any support — whether through a donation or a share — is deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for supporting a veteran who is truly trying his best.
