I am a full-time single father and Army veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division. I’ve always believed in helping others, but now I find myself in a position where I need to ask for help. I have vascular necrosis and need a double hip replacement. Until recently, my healthcare covered these surgeries, but changes this year mean I now have to pay a large portion out of pocket. As a caregiver for two teenagers, I can’t work because the pain makes it impossible to sit or move comfortably, and I don’t take pain medication. My grown son lives with us and pays his share of the bills, but he also has his own child to support. I’m struggling to keep up with my half, and things have gotten worse since my coverage changed.

Right now, we’re without electricity or water, and we need help with security deposits to turn both utilities back on. We also need to pay the last half of our security deposit for the house I was lucky enough to get into. Any funds raised will go directly to catching up on bills, restoring our utilities, and making sure there’s food in the fridge for my kids. We’re planning to use our tax refund to help as well, possibly to buy a car so I can get to appointments and support my family better.
