Better days are ahead. I believe that even as the challenges we’ve faced this Fall and Winter become greater and more difficult. This morning the family car was repossessed. In October, we were nearly evicted from our home. The bills keep piling up. This was not the plan.
Last year, I made the decision to return to college at 47. By September, everything was lined up. Things would be tight. However, I could DoorDash to fill the gap in pay leaving my job to better myself created. Then… divorce and the unexpected loss of income from that. Facing the challenges of being a single father now, balancing school and the new financial challenges was too much. My grades suffered. Our kids suffered. Our family hit a breaking point fast. The bills became impossible to keep up with, even with community help. Now my only means of earning money has been taken away.
Rent is due in 5 days and I’m short again.
I am working with my school on grants to improve next term's finances. Any monies I get from those efforts will come too late. We will not have enough to pay rent on January 1st… Admittedly, I am desperate.
With so many in need this year, I am ashamed it’s come to asking strangers for help. I am hopeful. After all, a little help will go a long way.
I need help landing. I need $1,200 more for rent, $2,600 to get my car back, and roughly $900 for electric, water/sewer, and gas to get caught up.
I’m in shock. I’m reaching out to this amazing community and am hopeful this temporary need will be fulfilled so my boys don’t ever have to know the struggle I’ve known in the past.
In the 2009 Crash, I found myself homeless. An army veteran battling PTSD, a friend gave me a couch to sleep on and recover from the war stuff and the great losses I’d suffered. In the last 15 years, I’ve done the work to recover and built a new life. My boys are my world and going back to school will provide for us in a new and thriving way.
This Fall has been a devastating hit to that dream. I remain determined. Refusing to give in to fear and ego, I’m asking for a little help. I appreciate anything you may be able to give and thank you with all my heart! ♥️
