Who wants to help a disabled/retired veteran and police officer and his family?
Hi, I'm Susan and this is for my brother, Joe, and his family. Joe spent more than 10 years in the US Navy and almost 20 years as a police officer. He has served his country and others well and with dignity and pride.
Over the past year, his family has been hit with a lot of obstacles. Recently, things have escalated and he and his family need your help. Having recently retired and moved to a small rural town in Georgia, his network is very small. There, he and his family have one family of friends, but they've not had a chance to build a "village" of support.
In July, Joe's wife, Kristi, underwent an emergency surgery that was very serious. Her road to recovery has not been easy, and she is still in recovery and dealing with complications and issues. This has required her to have home health and made this very independent and go-getter of a lady to be down for the count and dependent on others.
Just after Kristi's surgery, Joe's son, Joe Jr., suffered a serious fall and broke his ankle. This will require surgery for him in the very near future. They are waiting on the consultation with the orthopedic surgeon. Unfortunately, this doctor is located quite a distance from them. The trip is 70 miles one way. WOW!
All of this has been very overwhelming, not just physically but emotionally and financially. They could really use our help. This is just the most recent issue they are facing and doesn't begin to tell the whole story.
Joe, being a veteran and former police officer, has his own share of health issues and now finds himself trying to bear the load for his entire family. Let's come together and help Joe and his family. I know he would do the same for us. He is the funniest and really a big teddy bear under all that rough exterior.
08/21---UPDATE: Joe's wife (Kristi) is experiencing fevers. The dr says she will need another surgery next week due to infection from the previous surgery. They had to remove her wound vac as well. She is not doing well physically or emotionally. Joe is overwhelmed.
Let's help them. If you can't give, please lift them up in prayer.
