Help Bill & His Dog Sophia Find Safe Shelter and Stability
Hello, my name is Bill. I’m a 72-year-old retired corporate trainer, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America. I’ve spent over 60 years helping others—as a scout, leader, bishop, teacher, and chaplain. But now, I’m humbly asking for help myself. Also a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Four years ago, I lost my beloved wife, Vivian, after caring for her and her bedbound brother, also a Vietnam veteran exposed to Agent Orange. I was managing despite the heartache, but soon after, I fell seriously ill myself. I’ve had heart surgery and now live with nerve damage and chronic health issues that require a cane to walk.
Through a series of painful events—including being financially exploited by a caregiver—I lost our home and the life we had built. My only companion now is Sophia, my white boxer, who has been my rock through all of this.
Right now, Sophia and I are living in a small motel room in Starke, Florida. But the money is nearly gone. Without help, we’ll be living in the car within weeks.
Despite everything, I remain hopeful. I’m getting stronger, losing weight, and doing my best to recover and rebuild. But I need a helping hand to keep us sheltered, fed, and safe.
Please, if you can find it in your heart to help—even a small amount—it would mean the world to us.
