Help a U.S. Army Veteran Open Chase Fitness

Hi, my name is Scott Potting. I’m an Army Veteran who gave up what I really wanted to do for a comfy government check six years ago. Now I’m doing what I really want to do.
Training gave me my life back after the Army. I’m building a small, safe studio so others—especially vets and first responders—can feel that too.

After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, I knew exactly what I was passionate about… the gym. I knew how good I’d feel mentally and physically after a workout—intense or not. (This includes PT, even though I ABSOLUTELY HATED PT and would try so hard to not do it—I’m sure my fellow military folks will agree with that.)

So with that, I trained and studied at the National Personal Training Institute of Colorado. After that I studied Exercise Science at the University of Colorado because that’s what I loved! I can’t remember anything being as exciting as training someone in the gym—nerding out over what fun exercise we were going to do next and designing the most “perfect” program.

Well, given my military background, I was offered a government job to do something completely unrelated, and just like that I put my passion to the side and took the check. After years of just existing, I’m ready to live again because I’m so tired of just “existing” and going to a place to do a job that makes me feel even more empty.

Ironically, even after all these years, the only places that ever made me feel better were my bed and the gym. I always knew what I wanted to do, and it was to open a gym and give others a great, guided training experience—with equipment and movements that make sense.

Even though I’ve been doing government work this whole time, I’ve always kept up with the fitness industry and I’m still a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer.

If you looked at the pictures, I’m sure you’ll agree this is a long shot. I don’t want generic cheap equipment or the garage gym in your neighborhood. I want the best of the best because that’s what you—and my future clients—deserve. I don’t want to cut corners. The focus is on premium equipment, evidence-based tailored training, and enhanced recovery resources. Heaven, right? At least in my heart it’s perfect. ❤️

Goal: $50,000 to finish sheetrock/insulation/lighting, lay mats, and open with the essential equipment.

Timeline: I’ll soft-open within 60 days of hitting the goal.

What it funds:
• Buildout (walls + lights) so the rooms are actually finished
• Safe flooring/mats so joints survive
• Real strength setup (rack/bench/bar + plates + dumbbells) so this isn’t a flimsy garage setup

Why quality matters: flimsy gear breaks form and bodies. I’d rather buy once, stay safe, and coach well than replace cheap stuff three times.

Note on totals: Retail pricing for the full wishlist above can land around $57–58k. My campaign goal is $50k. I’ll prioritize core buildout, safe flooring, and the essential strength setup first, then add recovery/cardio pieces as discounts, sponsorships, and presales come through. You’ll see exactly how that unfolds in the updates.

I’ll post receipts and progress pics every week so you can see exactly where every dollar goes. Hold me accountable.
If we pass $50k, extra funds go to useful recovery tools and a second adjustable bench—nothing flashy.

I’ll put donor names on a small Founders Wall in the studio. You helped build it; your name should be in it.

Anything helps! Even $1 or just a share.

Thank you!
— Scott
