Hello, my name is Adrian or Tepetochtli and I am a Nahua + Úza Two-Spirit Trans Man currently in the process of leaving an emotionally abusive and mentally hostile household. As of right now I am currently reliant on a car that is under an abuser’s name. They do not use this car at all and I am the only one who uses it, mostly to go to and from work. A car would actually, genuinely change my life and help me get out of an abusive household, and I would no longer be indebted to my emotionally abusive family.
I have found a used car for sale for $6,500 on Facebook Marketplace, which is what this fundraiser is for. It’s used but it’s safe and with decent mileage, and really I’ll only be using it to commute to and from work. Obtaining a car purchased under my own name would be Actually life changing.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety during my childhood resulting both from the hostility of this household and other traumas, and I suspect I also have some form of undiagnosed neurodivergence. Living in a household that is both emotionally abusive and completely inconsiderate towards my mental illnesses has almost entirely burned me out, and if I have no way to leave this house I realistically cannot see myself making it out alive. Most fights, which are almost every single day that I’m not at work, leave me in a state where I cannot be alone without presenting a danger to myself.
