My name is Mackenzie. I’m a 39-year-old trans woman, born and raised in the greater Boston area. I’ve spent most of my life trying to live quietly, peacefully, and with dignity. I came out at 34 after decades of silence, denial, and fear. I’ve never asked for much—just the freedom to be myself and the safety to live without being hunted for it.
I’m not here to make a political statement. I’m a centrist. I believe in progress, but I also hold deep respect for tradition. I’ve always loved this country for its promise of freedom—especially the right to speak, to protect oneself, and to live without interference. That promise is why I stayed, even as anti-trans rhetoric grew louder and more dangerous.
But something has shifted. The fear isn’t theoretical anymore. It’s daily. It’s visceral. I’ve taken every step I can to protect myself—training, permits, preparation—but now I’m hearing calls to strip trans people of their right to self-defense, and even label us as an “extremist group” - For no reason other than simply existing and living our lives as regular people… That was my breaking point. That was the moment I realized:
Staying might cost me my life.
I never imagined I’d have to leave the country I love just to survive. But here I am, asking for help to do exactly that. I’m trying to raise enough funds to relocate to Ireland—a place where I can live without fear, without compromise, and without being treated as a threat for simply existing.
I’m asking for your help—not just your attention, but your support. This money will go towards any and all expenses incurred along the way (moving expenses, fees, rental deposits, etc), plus, even though my intention is to get a job in Ireland, this is not guaranteed right away, and so I will need some breathing space for when I get there.
Every contribution brings me closer to safety. Every dollar helps me escape a situation where staying means risking my life. If you believe in the right to live freely, to exist without fear, to protect one’s own future—please donate. This isn’t just a fundraiser.
It’s a lifeline.
Thank you for seeing me.

P.S. - If you are not able to donate, then please share with everyone you know. Thank you.
