Help a Trans Woman Escape a Transphobic State

Hi my name is Harry Manaligod. I am a Filipina transgender woman currently living in Iowa City. Iowa has never been a good place to be a transgender person, but over the past two years, anti-trans laws and an increasingly dangerous culture war have made Iowa a place that I simply do not feel safe or secure living in anymore. 33 anti-trans laws were proposed in the state legislative session this year, and one of the ones that passed legalizes religious discrimination against trans people. There has been an increase in anti-trans harassment, even in Iowa City. Late last year, I faced legal charges stemming from protesting this rise in transphobia.

I am trying to secure funds to help me move to Chicago and set up housing. I am seeking $2500 to help make this happen. I have some work lined up at the end of the summer to help me with some of this and I'll be applying to some programs that might be able to help me with these costs, but I really do need as much help as possible to get me to a safer place.
