Bark! My name is Dexy, and I’m a trans woman and full-time independent furry 3D artist doing my best to stay afloat through one of the hardest times of my life.

After months of searching, I’ve applied to over 100 jobs - even building automation tools to help me manage the process - but almost none of them ever responded. It’s been disheartening. The job market is overwhelmed right now, and as a disabled trans woman, finding a safe and accommodating workplace has been next to impossible.

So I chose to follow my passion and turn my creativity into a full-time career. I create 3D art, characters, and VRChat assets for the furry community - a place that has given me love, purpose, and belonging. Most of my income comes from commissions, and I’ve also opened a storefront where I sell VRChat assets and avatars that directly support me.

The first couple of months went wonderfully, but this month has been slow. Commission work dropped off, and I’ve been doing everything I can to find new clients and rebuild momentum. Unfortunately, that slowdown means I’m now struggling to cover rent and utilities for this month, and I don’t have anywhere to turn if I lose my home.

I also have a cat named Gus, my sweet intersex companion who’s been with me through everything. She’s family and a huge part of what keeps me grounded and hopeful. I want to make sure she always has a safe, warm home with me, no matter how hard things get. She’s been my little source of comfort on the hardest nights, and knowing she’s safe means the world to me.
