Help a Disabled Trans Elder Leave Texas & Go Home

Hi, I'm Dean Phoenix, a Trans Elder, Ordained Minister, Initiated Druid and courageous Community Catalyzer who needs to relocate cross-country in March with your support.

I have a safe landing place and community waiting for me in Philadelphia, and I need your help to get there.

Relocation is a big deal for anyone. I'm queer, trans, non-binary, autistic, have ADHD, and am currently living with disability with 6 years of chronic illness. Moving cross country will grant me much-needed housing and reconnection to my community network of support.

Living in Texas has proven to be an unsustainable challenge for me that has depleted my resources despite my greatest efforts. Everything from constant allergies and extreme heat to frequent 30-degree temperature swings in one day, hinder my body's ability to function and heal. As someone who is gender non-conforming and disabled, the state's political climate is life-threatening and a constant stress factor. While I live in a wonderful neighborhood in Austin, due to various circumstances (not the least of which is living in a pandemic) I have been unable to establish a robust social safety net here. Social isolation has compounded mental health issues, but I am currently stable mentally and emotionally.

Leaving Texas feels like a matter of survival.

As it stands, despite doing everything in my power and dealing with chronic illness, I have been unable to pay rent for two months, and my lease ends on 3/31/2023 - I have to go now.

Most of my recent ancestors come from Eastern Pennsylvania. I was born there and I grew up in Philadelphia. I am being offered temporary space in my friend's living room there, and access to multiple in-person social support networks.

Moving to Philadelphia supports my physical healing and ends chronic social isolation. I want to live among people who know and love me and who can assist me in person.

As of now, because of my disability and compromised environment, I have no income, credit cards are maxed and overdue, and my family is already tapped out and has their hands full. And I cannot take on more debt.

I have cash on hand for essential March living expenses. I need your help to secure the funds for pod and trailer rentals on or before MARCH 17. One week from posting this.

My initial RELOCATION GOAL of $6500 covers my costs to relocate based on the following estimates:

I don't know what this move will ultimately cost. These estimates are based on how I'd prefer to move, and what those costs might be.
