Help a Trans Disabled Student Move Forward With His Future
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Kelly, and I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of my incredible younger brother, Ryland.
Ryland is a driven, compassionate, and determined young man living with Cerebral Palsy. Despite facing lifelong challenges—physically, emotionally, and financially—he never let those obstacles stop him. This spring, he graduated summa cum laude from Arcadia University with a double major in History and English Creative Writing, multiple minors, and a strong presence in campus leadership and extracurriculars. Ryland has since achieved something remarkable: he’s been accepted into law school, where he hopes to continue advocating for others and making a meaningful difference. But just as he’s preparing for this exciting next chapter, an unexpected financial obstacle now threatens to stop everything.
A few years ago, Ryland came out as transgender, and his parents did not take it well. His home became extremely toxic and emotionally harmful, which left him no choice other than to leave this past December.
After that his parents—who had previously co-signed his student loans—withdrew their support without notice out of spite because they didn’t approve of him living his truth. Even though the school was well aware that Ryland was no longer living at home, was living on campus and updated his address, the school continued sending billing/account information to their address. As a result he was completely unaware that there were any loan issues until a week before graduation, when he was blindsided with a $16,000 bill—an amount he had no way to cover. Because of this, his diploma and transcripts are being withheld, placing his law school journey admission at risk.
Ryland has worked harder than most could imagine to get where he is today. His story is one of perseverance, courage, and dedication in the face of repeated setbacks. He has earned every bit of this opportunity, and with a little help, he can take that next step toward a future he’s been working toward for years.
We are asking for your support to help Ryland pay off this debt, access his academic records, and start law school this summer. Every dollar brings him closer to a future built not just on hope, but on hard-earned success.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and belief in Ryland’s journey.
With deep gratitude,
Kelly
