Hi! We’re Francisco and Kiki, a disabled, trans, AuDHD couple trying to move from Charlotte to Philadelphia ASAP.
Thanks to Francisco’s new job offer in PA and a more accessible city infrastructure (especially for non-drivers like Kiki), we finally have a chance to regain independence, rebuild financial stability, and access the community support we need.
But we cannot do it alone.
We urgently need help covering out-of-state moving costs — every share and donation brings us closer to our new beginning.
✨ Why We're Moving
Over the last year, Francisco has been our main source of income, balancing caregiving duties and increasing medical expenses (including top surgery and ongoing therapy) while working hourly. Meanwhile, Kiki’s freelance income has dramatically decreased and has stayed stagnant due to limitations/slow pacing from severe autistic burnout and intensified support needs.
On top of economic strain, we're facing growing precarities:
- Escalating anti-trans legislation in NC
- Increased COVID risks in NC and lack of COVID-conscious/competent community support—posing serious risks for Kiki, who has Sjögren’s Disease, a disabling autoimmune illness.
Over the last 5 years, we’ve been increasingly isolated and Kiki has lost a lot of autonomy because of it.
Funds Transparency
We’ve carefully budgeted to cover essential costs:
- Movers in both Charlotte and Philly (essential for access needs)
Moving 600 miles is expensive and physically demanding. Without movers, we risk serious health consequences, including postexertional malaise, overstimulation, and illness/pain flare ups.
- U-Haul truck and driver (Francisco will be driving their car separately!)
- First and last month's rent + security deposit for our new place (pending approval now!)
- Final vet bills for Scully (recently rescued and FIV+)
- Covering Kiki’s health insurance during this unstable transition period
