Hi, my name is Alex. I recently returned from a holiday in Thailand, but I left a piece of my heart behind.

About two weeks into the trip, my boyfriend and I were in Chiang Mai, hiking up to some temples, when we came across a beautiful little cat who was clearly very unwell. I tried to feed her, but she was far too sick to eat or drink. After asking around, I learned that she didn’t have an owner.

I frantically contacted as many rescue centres as I could find and eventually one answered and advised us to take her to a veterinary clinic about an hour away. I scooped her up and took her straight there.

At the vets, blood tests revealed that she was severely anaemic, had a chronic infection and was likely suffering from FIP (a serious coronavirus-related illness in cats). She was extremely weak and unable to eat or drink on her own. She also has one eye and the vet seemed to think the other eye was pecked out when she was a kitten. He also said she is around 5 years old.

Since then, I have been paying for her treatment, ongoing care and onboarding at the vets. The rescue centre New Hope Foundation are also taking care of her for the time being and sending me regular updates, however I am funding it all.

She is currently receiving regular blood transfusions, IV fluids, medication and oxygen therapy. The costs are significant, but I truly don’t want to give up on her, she is such a sweet, gentle little soul.

Once she is well enough, my hope is to bring her to the UK so she can have a fresh start and a chance at a new life with people who truly love her.

There is no guarantee that she will survive as she is very sick, but I'm giving her the best chance she can get. Any donations not used will go the charity New Hope Foundation who are based in Chiang Mai and take in rescue animals.
