Urgent: 3 Days to Help a Texas Family Keep Their Home!

Hi all-

I've been helping a hardworking Texas family - 2 adults, 1 teenager, 1 toddler, 7 dogs - for several years now. I became involved when they could no longer feed either their dogs or the humans adequately. The mom had put out a heartrending plea on FB. I filled their pantry and then set about giving them a hand/paw up in other ways. I respected how much they tried to do for the dogs despite living paycheck to paycheck, so I committed to helping as much as possible. Five of the dogs were from an oops litter, so we made sure the parent dogs (who are so loved, they sleep in the parents' bed - a mastiff and a pit bull! - that's a lot of dog in a bed!) and the litter were fixed and vaccinated. I slightly accelerated replacement of my 2010 Subaru so they could have it. And when jobs were scarce in West Texas, I helped them move closer to family in Central Texas.

The five pups (now big dogs) were actually the ones left after adopting out two and losing one to parvo post-vaccination. We tried to move others into rescue, but all of this coincided with the current shelter and rescue crisis. We could not find rescue placement.

The family has kept on taking the best care of them (the move further east was a herculean effort built around potty breaks!) with intermittent help.

But now they face a crisis. And I'm asking for your help. I hope to raise $800 in the next three days to pay their June rent. I have already contributed $220 to utilities. They have found some stability in their current home, and there is simply nowhere else for this family of eleven to go. If we can get them set, they will use June to prepare for July.

It is SO easy to get behind the eight ball financially, especially when there are no parental resources to lean on. Texas also has very unforgiving landlord-tenant laws. And this is a GOOD home for these pups and human kids. Will you please help me help them? If all my FB friends contributed just $3, we'd be set.
