Help a Teacher Provide Enrichment Trips
Donation protected
Hi!
I'm Princess, an LAUSD teacher, community organizer, and product of public schools.
When I started working in education nine years ago, I started with the goal to provide enriching educational experiences to ALL of my students, regardless of background, income, life experience, language access, or home life.
Since 2014, I've chosen to serve only Title I schools, as the students who inhabit those schools need the most support and dedicated staff. I want to continue to impact the students in my Title I school positively, but I need some help!
"What *IS* a Title I school?".
Title I schools are schools that primarily serve low-income families.
On top of 90% of students qualifying for free lunch, my current school is over 25% newcomers to the United States, 100% students of color, and over half of our students are navigating the foster care system.
Despite these perceived obstacles to consistent learning and engagement, my students are brilliant and capable. They are hungry for knowledge and desperately need out-of-classroom experiences to help them connect our content to the world at large. This year, I have the lofty goal to take them on at least six field trips to feed their academic learning and enhance the education we are receiving in the classroom.
Your donation would help pay for:
- Transportation to and from each location (did you know that an LAUSD school bus costs $110 per HOUR of the field trip, including transportation time?!)
- Admission to 4 museums, a matinee play, and the zoo
- A first aid kit
- Emergency incidentals
Thank you in advance for your care, love, and support of my students!
