Help a Teacher Keep Her Home!
Help a teacher in need. For the 24-25 school year, had to leave the school I had been working for 5 years and change jobs because of my visa -I need a work visa to teach- and my new position as out of status I am not permitted to work. Recently I learned that the lawyers messed up on the fees and my work visa was rejected because they filed with incorrect fees and now I need to wait for an appeal which might take who know how long -it also covers my two daughters, one in middle school and the other in elementary. When I returned to work, and because of the time I was out of status and not earning due to the lack of knowledge of the HR department, I was charged for over 40+ days as ‘sick days’. I didn’t have any income for the entire school year, just a few dollars per paycheck. It’s a long and complicated story in which my family has been greatly impacted by. I’m struggling with my rent and food and repossessions. Please, help if you can. During the school year, I taught high school French and Spanish for a title 1 district and I drive 120 miles daily to get there. Had no choice. They knew it and abused me for it. We are facing eviction and vehicle repossession at this time, plus food security. I pledge to give back as soon as I get in a better place. I’ve been a teacher for 21 years and I love my work - I want to be in the classroom in a time when so many are running away from it.
Thank you for reading my story.
