Help a Teacher Overcome Health and Immigration Hurdles

LCS is an afro-caribbean teacher running from violence in her home country. She has done her best to support herself in the United States, but as she finishes her studies and continues to teach her classes, money has been quite tight. She has launched countless educational programs and services to maintain herself afloat, but unfortunately, her efforts are not enough to cover unexpected changes.

LCS has done relevant work as a volunteer in different organizations, including peer support for undocumented peoples in Spanish and French, outreach towards queer immigrants in detention centers in both NYC and Oregon, and adult literacy for underrepresented communities through her local library in Portland.

Now, in the middle of the uncertainty of Portland's landscape and what that entails for her immigration processes, she’s balancing all her personal and familial responsibilities and ensuring all her new USCIS paperwork and applications are up to the highest standard alongside chronic pain that limits her ability to look for a third job and push towards a better situation, and a possible surgery to hopefully correct some of the ailments from her chronic condition that will surely keep her bedridden for months, limiting her already precarious salary.

This GoFundMe is trying to cover for LCS to be able to cover two months of pain management medication, cover fees and paperwork requests for much needed USCIS application, and to access an expensive, out-of-pocket podiatrist procedure.

She has decided to stay anonymous, for safety reasons.
