Help a teacher get treatments for a rare disease
Donation protected
Jocelyn is an amazing teacher, gifted singer, and mom of 3. She has given countless hours to her church and community helping those in need. Now she is the one who needs support.
Jocelyn is my cousin and my inspiration. She is too proud to ask for help. No matter how challenging thing get she always has helping others in mind.
I am asking for your help in raising money for the treatments she needs. She has been diagnosed with a very rare disease- PRP (Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris). What began as a rash around her scalp has quickly spread to 90% of her body. It is swollen, infected, and extremely painful. Her immune system is attacking the largest organ on her body and they don’t know why. She can’t regulate her own body temperature. She radiates heat but has chills constantly. She has fatigue and pain daily.
There is no cure and no FDA treatment approved. Specialists have found biologics help, however her insurance doesn’t cover. Each treatment is $13,000. The doctors were gracious enough to give her sample treatments initially. She needs to continue these treatments for relief, but they can’t afford it. She can’t even work right now. Doctors don’t know how long this will last. Could be months, could be years. For now we are working to raise money for 2 more treatments.
When I asked what they needed and how I could help she simply said “Shane (her husband) is doing a great job as my caretaker but I worry about the burden I am putting in him.” Another example of how much she puts others ahead of her own needs.
I would greatly appreciate anything you can give. And if you can’t give money please send prayers for Jocelyn and Shane Stroud. Thank you for your consideration.
