On May 2nd, this sweet girl was just hours away from being another statistic at the Manhattan Care Center. Thanks to Ready for Rescue, she was pulled from the brink, but her battle is just beginning, and last night took a scary turn.

She survived the shelter, but her body is tired. Our initial ER visit confirmed she is battling kidney disease, which has caused so much abdominal discomfort that she is walking with a wobbly gait. It is heartbreaking to watch her struggle just to move across the room. Her condition is fragile; after vomiting last night and struggling with diarrhea this morning, she urgently needs an abdominal ultrasound to see the full extent of what she’s fighting.

To give her a quality of life, she will require:

• An emergency ultrasound to diagnose her recent decline.

• Daily subcutaneous fluids to support her kidneys.

• A strict prescription kidney diet to keep her stable.

• Ongoing pain management so she can walk comfortably and anything else the vet recommends.

Despite the pain she must be in, she is the gentlest, sweetest soul you could ever meet. She wouldn't have made it another day in the shelter, and we are determined to make sure that whether she has months or years left, they are filled with soft beds, full bowls, and absolutely zero pain.
