Help a Survivor Secure a Safe Home

I am a 67 year old retired software engineer. Five years ago, after 30 some odd years of therapy, I accepted the fact that I am adult survivor of childhood sex abuse. Three years ago when I had a psychological evaluation I learned that the night terrors and nightmares I had been having all my life were caused by chronic PTSD from the abuse. The other fact that I learned about myself is that I am also on the Autism Spectrum.

In a nut shell my childhood was horrific. Then I had to face the adult world and learn to fend for myself. I have done reasonably well for myself but, not knowing of these issues, I have had trouble finding jobs even though I am very good at what I do. I’ve also made a lot of mistakes and now have had to use my retirement savings to support myself while I was looking for work.

The last five years have been very rough sorting all of this out. To top it all off I am currently living in a motel which is more expensive than my fixed income can handle. I’m having problems finding a room to rent becauseI’m in a college town area and I’m not a college student and rents are geared to sharing rooms or much higher than I can afford and wait times for affordable housing are over 5 years long even if I did qualify. Also, most rooms want either a student or a full time working professional.

I need a stable place to live to continue healing and start making a life for myself. A place that is not threatening and not prone to being sold out from under me.(The last room I rented in a house was where the landlord was trying to sell the house.) A stable place will also help me finish the software products that I am working on and I hope will allow me to pull myself out of debt and begin living a productive life.

What I need is at least one year of apartment rent so I can stabilize my finances and get at least one product onto the App Store. I need to move my stuff out of storage into the apartment, which will save me $200 a month. And I’m going to have to start paying for utilities but, with luck the cost for storage will cover this but I will need seed money to get settled.

While all of this is getting arranged, I need to continue living in the motel which is the cheapest I could find but is still bleeding me dry. This is what I figure I need to raise . Any level of help will be appreciated.
