Help a Student Victimized by Scam
I am McKayla, a senior in high school set to begin college in the fall. Recently, a teacher's email at my school was hacked, and a "job offer" was sent out under the pretenses of earning some extra cash. With bills, and senior dues, and expenses, I thought, "I could use some extra cash." So, I signed up. I was sent "assignments" from these people, under the pretenses of being a "secret shopper." My bank cashed not just one of those bad checks, but three, with no hold, no questions asked. I returned the vast majority of this money to the "company" under their pretenses of evaluating walmarts, Moneygram, and western unions all over. I kept a small portion of this money for my "pay", which I was more than willing to pay back and be responsible for when we found out these checks were bad. However, the bank will accept no responsibility for cashing the checks in the first place, and my school system is accepting no responsibility for the compromised email, or for properly letting their students know that an email was hacked. I and several other students were affected by this. All of the money raised from this campaign will go towards paying off the bank loan I was bullied into taking out. I would greatly appreciate any and all help, and hope that I can pay off this "loan" before I have to begin paying off my student loans. Thank you for your time.
