Help a Student Thrive at Central High
Donation protected
We are two teachers at a K-8 school located in South Philadelphia -Ms. Kronmiller and Ms. Ruderman. Our students are culturally and linguistically diverse, and many of them live below the poverty level; therefore, we are supporting their academic needs as well as helping ensure their basic needs are met.
Our school has a very high population of students who speak English as a second language. Additionally, some of these students have learning differences. One of our 8th graders (who is both an English Learner and a student with learning differences) is graduating from our school in June, and will be attending Central High School in the fall.
Central is a magnet school in The School District of Philadelphia - which means all incoming students have satisfied stringent admission requirements to ensure continuation of Central's long-standing tradition of academic excellence. Applicants must have an A or B in Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies on final 7th grade report cards. They must have 95% attendance during the previous school year, excluding excused absences.
All incoming freshman need a personal computer to take notes in class, complete assignments, and communicate with their teachers. Not all families have the resources to do this. We need your help in raising enough money to be able to buy a very special student a 14 inch Mac Book Pro as a graduation gift from his teachers. We know it will change the course of his life, to be able to start as an equal with his peers.
Help us make this dream a reality.
