My name is Yvette de la Vega, and I am a college lecturer at California State University, Northridge. I am reaching out today because one of my students is facing an urgent and heartbreaking family emergency, and she needs our help.

She is a first-year college student who recently learned that her brother in Guatemala, who struggles with a severe mental health disorder, attempted to take his own life. He is currently alone, and there is no one there to support him during this critical time. Her mother is unable to travel, which means the responsibility now falls on her.

This young student is doing everything she can to stay strong for her family while also trying to continue her education. However, her family is already experiencing significant financial hardship, and the cost of last-minute international travel is simply out of reach.

She does not have the resources to make this trip on her own, but her presence could make all the difference for her brother during this life-threatening crisis.
